LEAGUE OF IRELAND: ELITE BETTING ADVICE, 21/5

Vincent Mulligan (@Makool) is the League Of Ireland betting advisor for http://www.scottishfootballtips.com/ and has already provided us with some big priced winners this season. With the League Of Ireland continuing throughout the summer months this elite tipster is the one to watch.

It’s a tough old night for the WDW markets in Ireland but there are a few decent priced teams worth keeping an eye on. I watched Derry City trouble Dundalk in Oriel Park last week and must admit to being impressed by their organisation and commitment but they unfortunately look a little toothless up front.

Keep an eye on Galway who are starting to show some form and with 13 goals in their last four matches should be capable of grabbing all three points at Hunky Dory Park against Drogheda tonight. But they are hard to call as are the other games that feature the top four sides, Cork v Shamrock Rovers and Saint Patricks v Dundalk.

Amongst these hard to call games are three teams that I just cannot see not scoring. Dundalk, Cork and Galway all look set up for at least a goal tonight and with the nature of their games being tough to call that leaves some decent prices on them getting on the scoresheet. A treble of the three teams above pays @ 2.42(71/50) with Boylesports and that tempts the hell out of me.

It’s 2+ years since Cork have failed to score at home. Dundalk, well, they just score and Galway should manage at least one tonight. That’s a simple explanation but it’s a simple bet with a great chance of success.

Recommended bets.

Dundalk, Cork City, Galway, ALL +0.5 Team Goals @ 2.42 with Boylesports.

League Of Ireland: Elite Betting Advice 15/05

@Makool is the League Of Ireland betting correspondent for http://www.scottishfootballtips.com and boosts an enviable return on investment this season. This week he supplies us with two singles in and around the even money mark.

Dundalk are setting themselves up to be more than just the elite team in the League Of Ireland. The way they are going they are looking a step above their level and are seemingly unstoppable right now. Friday’s opponents, Derry City, will look at their recent record at Dundalk with in-trepidation having lost the lost three without scoring and conceding eleven goals.

The Champions look very capable of covering a handicap here seeing as Derry have failed to score in four of their last five away games. Dundalk have beaten all comers to Oriel Park with their most recent home game an 8-1 mauling of the unfortunate Bray Wanderers.

BetVictor have the best price available with -1.5 Asain Handicap priced at 1.93 and that is an excellent price considering who is involved.

On Saturday night the hapless Bray entertain a Saint Patricks Athletic side who are all set up to hammer a bag of goals in. Bray have conceded 17 goals in their last three games and Saint Pats are prolific goal scorers against the weaker sides in the league.

With strikers like Fagan, Forrester, Kilduff and Byrne on show they are more than capable of baggin a couple of goals and I think they could go even further. Three goals looks highly likely and even more than that is not out of the question. You can back St Pats to score +2.5 team goals at 2.2 with bet365.

Recommended bets.

Dundalk -1.5AH @ 1.93 with Betvictor

Saint Patricks Atheltic +2.5 Team Goals @ 2.2 with bet365

League Of Ireland: Elite Betting Advice 08/05

@Makool is the League Of Ireland betting correspondent forhttp://www.scottishfootballtips.com and boosts an enviable return on investment this season. Following on from last week’s 13/1 correct score prediction he has another one for us to play with at small stakes.

It’s a near full compliment of games in the League Of Ireland although the league’s most elite side, Dundalk, are not playing. The biggest encounter is Saint Patricks Athletic v Shamrock Rovers and that is one best avoided as it could go either way.

The place to go for value is Turners Cross where Cork City entertain a disappointing Sligo Rovers. Turners Cross is a fortress for Cork (except when Dundalk visit) and the Dundalk game excepted their results this season read 5-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-0. Obviously a Cork win without conceding should be considered but I think there is good value in the handicap market where you can back Cork -1 at a price of 2.8 with Ladbrokes.

Sligo have managed just one win all season and the two times they have travelled to top sides (Pats, Dundalk) they have lost 3-0. I think there is a good chance of a similiar result here tonight so I am having a small punt (it is a punt) on the correct score of 3-0 to Cork that pays 11/1 with Paddy Power.

Recommended bets:

Cork City -1 @ 2.8 with Ladbrokes. (0.75 pts)

Cork City win 3-0 @ 11/1 with Paddy Power. (0.2 pts)

League Of Ireland: Elite Betting Advice 02/05

@Makool is the League Of Ireland betting correspondent for http://www.scottishfootballtips.com and boosts an enviable return on investment this season. Today he brings us a 30/1 shot to nothing from the First Division.

Many might ask why I am talking up a team who have won just 12 of their last 64 league matches and you would be right to wonder. They are hosting a side who are favoured to go right back up to the Premier Division this season and who the bookies make heavy odds on favourites to win the game today.

Lets be honest, if my life depended on it there is not a chance in hell I would choose this bet. But my life doesn’t depend on it, just my reputation and that’s something I can always win back.

Cobh Ramblers have in fact won less than 20/% of their last 64 league games so their price of 5/1 seems fair enough, right? They certainly aren’t an elite side in Ireland and that’s exemplified by the fact that they haven’t won away from home in 35 attempts. But if they haven’t won away from home in nearly two years, that means all their wins have come at home and that means they have won 43% of their last 35 home games (15/35). Suddenly 5/1 doesn’t seem so bad.

Even better they have won their last two home matches by 1-0 scorelines and today’s opponents, Athlone Town, have lost three from five failing to score in two of them. By all means back Cobh to win today but I am going to risk a smaller stake for a bigger payday.

Backing Cobh to win 1-0 pays 14/1 with Coral and backing them to win 2-0 pays 40/1 with Coral. I am not saying that this bet will come in but I think it has a chance and I think it’s overpriced.

Recommended bets:

Cobh Ramblers to win 1-0 @ 14/1 with Coral (0.25 Pts)

Cobh Ramblers to win 2-0 @ 40-1 with Coral (0.2 Pts)

League Of Ireland: Elite Betting Advice 20/4

Bray Wanderers v Shamrock Rovers.

This looks like a game that the bookies have priced up on reputation rather than reality. Shamrock Rovers at 1/3 for a game away from home against any team in this division is ridiculously short and not worthy of consideration. Anyone thinking of backing them on the handicaps should think twice because they have won only twice this season by more than the odd goal.

The home side are on a bit of a run at the moment too with two wins and a draw since they parted company with the management team that started the season. In the five games previous they hadn’t managed a single goal but then banged in seven in the first two games under new management with the next result a very creditable 0-0 draw away to Derry City. That, incidentally, was the same result Shamrock Rovers managed away to Derry just the week before.

At home Bray haven’t been beaten by more than one goal in four matches and it looks, to me at least, unlikely that they will suffer a greater defeat here tonight. You can back Bray +1 Asian handicap at 2.25(5/4) with bet365 and that has stake back insurance should the home team lose by one goal. Any better result is a win and it looks to have a great chance.

Elsewhere I wouldn’t put anyone off a treble of Dundalk, Cork and Saint Patricks Athletic that pays out at 2.23 with Ladbrokes.

Recommended bets.

Bray Wanderers +1AH @ 2.25(5/4) with bet365 (1pt).

League Of Ireland: Elite Betting Advice 17/04

Vincent Mulligan(@Makool), the resident League Of Ireland betting advisor for http://www.scottishfootballtips.com, is putting all his faith in the champions, Dundalk, doing what they do best.

Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk @ Oriel Park, KO 20:00

Last season Dundalk were merciless on their travels against fellow League of Ireland title contenders. Early on they pulled through against a fancied Sligo Rovers outfit  before hammering St Patricks 4-1 in Inchicore before the others had even started. Form speaks volumes and Dundalk have lost just six of their last 36 away matches in the Premier Division, having chalked up victories against all of the big boys including the last two times they were hosted by Shamrock Rovers.

This time Rovers should have more belief in themselves going into this match as they have been defeated on just one occasion in their last 18 outings. That correlates with Pat Fenlon’s return and it is no coincidence. But they will also know that they have failed to win three times this season and a defeat in this crucial tie will leave them trailing by seven points after just eight games. Taking everything into account it’s hard to see Dundalk dropping seven points in the rest of the season so I expect Rovers to be cagey, just as they were against Cork, Derry and Bohemians.

Another bore draw wouldn’t be out of the question but if there is any team in Ireland capable of breaking the dreariness of the Rovers rearguard action it’s Dundalk.

I think Dundalk can win but if they do it will be a tight affair. For that reason I am having a pop at a few correct scores. Dundalk 1-0 is 6/1 and to win 2-0 is 11/1. I will also be having a go at Brian Gartland to score first at 20/1. Gartland is often the man to break the deadlock in tight affairs with his prowess from set pieces. This is why the likes of Paddy Power have the centre back at a measly 9.5(17/2) to score first but Betfair’s price of 20/1 is more than juicy enough to have a flutter.

RECOMMENDED BETS

Dundalk win 1-0 @ 6/1 (0.33pts)

Dundalk win 2-0 @ 11/1 (0.25pts)

LEAGUE OF IRELAND: ELITE BETTING ADVICE, 10/04

Vincent Mulligan(@Makool), the resident League Of Ireland betting advisor for http://www.scottishfootballtips.com, got off the mark last week with a team goals treble. Nothing so complicated this week as he offers up an odds against single and a low stakes treble that’s not for the faint of heart.

The Louth Derby may not register on the list of Europe’s elite football rivalries, it may not even register on the list of Ireland’s best known but it is worth paying attention to this weekend. Dundalk host Drogheda for the first time in the league since they battered them 7-0 here last season on their march to the title. The leagues’ top scorer this season, David McMillan, bagged a brace as a second half substitute and he will be looking for a similar impact on Friday night.

Dundalk finally dropped points last weekend to a controversial injury time goal in Limerick but at home they still look invincible. I certainly wouldn’t be putting much import on a Drogheda side who have managed just one point and one goal in their last four matches. Dundalk look well set to cover a handicap against their local rivals and I am taking the 2.3(13/10) available on a -2 Asian Handicap. If they win by two the stake returns and any greater winning margin is a winner for us.

Elsewhere there are three games that look setup for draws and I am going to have a shot to nothing at the treble coming in at a little over 35/1 for a small stake.

Recommended bets.

Dundalk WIN -2AH @ 2.3(13/10) 1pt

St Pats/Cork C, Derry C/Shamrock Rov, Galway U/Sligo Rov. ALL Draws @ 36.466 0.16pts(1/6th)

League of Ireland: Elite Betting Preview 03/04-04/04

Vincent Mulligan (@Makool) is the League Of Ireland betting adviser at www.scottishfootballtips.com. Although his first tip for us at Europe’s Elite disappointed his record still speaks for itself. He is definitely worth the watch.

Something a little different this week in the form of a ‘team goals’ treble. The inspiration for this bet comes from eyeing up the price on Bohemians for their trip to Drogheda. Bohs haven’t let me down this season and I like the look of +1.5 team goals at 2.55(31/20). But I also like the look of +0.5 team goals at 1.33(1/3).

Of course a price of 1/3 is not viable for the average punter but there are two other teams who at the very worst are priced at what they should be and I fancy both of them to get on the scoresheet in their games. The treble pays 2.0(evens) and that is pretty good for three League Of Ireland teams who are rightly favoured to win their games.

Ignore the fact Bohs have failed to score in their last two games. They came against the best two defences in the league and the point garnered from those matches is a great result for Bohs. Drogheda have conceded to everyone bar Bray, who haven’t scored against anyone, so they are leaky having conceded seven goals already this season.

Cork always score at home. That’s just a fact. You have to go back thirty odd games since the last time they failed to score in the league. Derry won’t be an easy game as The Candystripes have started well but Cork will be out for the win. They always are at Turners Cross.

Finally St Patricks Athletic (KO Saturday) are the final leg and away to Longford Pats cannot afford to drop anymore points or they could be kissing goodbye to their championship hopes already. They must win at Longford and to do that they must score.

Recommended bets.

Cork City, Bohemians, St Pats Ath. ALL +0.5 team goals @ 2.0(Evens)

Dundalk v Sligo Rovers

A quick look at the league table will tell you that Dundalk are miles above Sligo. With a ten point gap after just four games, Dundalk are the last remaining team on maximum points with an unblemished goals conceded record thus far. So we should be looking at a comfortable victory here, right? Wrong.

Dundalk have started well and the Champions look capable of making history as the first Dundalk team to win back to back titles but that doesn’t mean you should discount Sligo entirely. Sure, Dundalk should win the game but will it be as comfortable as a price of 1.62 (8/13) with SkyBet suggests? I don’t think so.

The bookies seem to think that Sligo will have a problem getting on the goals trail here with Boylesports going as high as 1.7 (7/10) for them just to get on the scoresheet. Backing both teams to score in this game returns at 2.1 (11/10) with Betfair and for me that’s a very good price.

Sligo have scored in every game so far this season, keeping them out at the other end has been their downfall but this Sligo side are much better than their current position of tenth place suggests. My advice would be to ignore the handicaps and look at goals for this one. I will be on both teams to score which is no surprise considering each side contains one of my two selections to finish as the league’s top scorer this season. David McMillan (above) for Dundalk is already top of the charts with three goals and Dinny Corcoran for Sligo only has the one but there are plenty more goals in him, I assure you.
